FENEK is an innovative system based on a network of microphones that can capture the direction, distance and height to the target using triangulation. It can be used both as part of mobile fire groups and for the protection of infrastructure facilities.
In the simplest version, one microphone on a mast is enough – it determines the azimuth with an accuracy of up to 2 degrees. Three or more microphones are used for precise target positioning. The system supports both dynamic and pulse triangulation – this allows you to detect both constant sound sources (drones) and one-time events (shots, explosions).
Currently, the Octava Defence team is also:
- forming a database of acoustic signatures of threats so that the system can identify the type of target using AI;
- working on adapting the system to NATO standards to ensure compatibility with other technological solutions.
